Athan

Week 8: The journey is almost over and I was reflecting on what I have learned in the past two months. I have been on several different weight loss programs and had temporary success but I was never taught what food does in our bodies and why we should eat certain types of food at certain times of the day but not at other times of the day.

All of the other weight loss programs the leaders were good hearted people but they truly had no idea what they were talking about. They did have general training but it was from the company they worked for so if you were to ask them a question that they had no answer for they gave you this look like a deer staring at head lights. Then they would say let me ask and I will let you know next week. Well weeks turned into months and months turned into never. They would tell you how many calories you could eat each day but did not give a list of what not to eat. So I could eat that garlic laced with dripping butter at 9:00 PM and then go to bed and I should still lose weight because I stayed within my calorie limits. Yea Right!!!! Weight training and cardio was optional.

I am eating between 500-1000 calories more per day and losing weight much quicker then ever. Why, because I am lifting weights and doing cardio. So I have more muscle to help burn fat. That is simple logic. If you let your car run in idle you will burn gas but if you push the accelerator you will burn gas much quicker.

While I am doing my cardio at the studio it is a great time to pick up some great tips from the trainers. All of them are very well educated in nutrition and exercise Physiology. I always get great tips on what foods are better to eat then others or a better why to do a certain exercise. Of course I always get great tips while working with Brandon.

Now I need to take what I have learned and use it in my daily life and continue on improving myself.

I want to thank Christina for giving me this opportunity to be involved in the Eight weeks to greatness program and Brandon for being there to help me along every step of the way. Also, to Jonathon, Lilli, Shannon, and Christina #2 for being there when I had a question. This I a great group of people who work very well together. God Bless you all.

Deborah

Week 8: I can't believe it's over! Things got so crazy the last few weeks with my schedule that at times I questioned my sanity. But I can now say with certainty that IT WAS SOOOO WORTH IT ALL!

Today was the photo shoot and the final weigh in, and I am so amazed. My final stats are 32 lbs lost, almost 12% body fat, and I feel so awesome. I've had to go shopping, and for the first time in years I don't have to go to the Plus-size departments! I went from a size 22 to a size 12 in just 8 weeks.

This experience has taught me so much. I now know how and what I should be eating, and how much I should be excersizing. I am ready to continue on the journey to a healthier me that I've begun during this 8 weeks. I also know that if I can do this I can do just about anything I set my mind to. And if I can do it, anyone can.

So many people have encouraged and enabled me to complete this challenge. Special thanks to Shannon and the rest of the H&H crew who wouldn't give up on me. I couldn't have done any of it without the constant help and support of my sister Dianna, and encouragement of my mom and my daughters, Laura and Mandy.

Bring on the rest of my life!!!

Eric

Week 4: Not much new this week, still sticking to the plan. Eating right and working out. I was on auto-pilot: get up, workout, eat every few hours, go to bed and repeat. I did have some strong cravings for carbs after work a couple of days this week but stayed with lean and green for dinner. It paid off, as I had one of my biggest weight loss weeks.

It definitely helps to have my smoking hot wife working out and eating right with me. She is also training at His and Her Fitness (she's rocking the Casbah) and I don't know if I would have been able to maintain the discipline to eat right if she wasn't fully committed as well. It has been great to share this part of our journey together.

Holly

Week 4: I'm starting to notice a difference in my body... I've been getting comments on how I'm losing weight at work as well as compliments on my shoulders from friends! I am so excited that the weather is getting nicer so I can wear TANK TOPS! Christina took my body fat measurements and I've lost 3% in only 4 weeks I can't believe it's happening so fast! The scale isn't reflecting much of a difference but my body is definitely changing for the better.

I have been keeping the diet very strictly except for the occasion where I get up later and don't get my last "meal" in for the day... I'm trying really hard to make sure that I'm getting in my protein & veggies. I have also been working on my cardio sessions, Christina would LOVE for me to do it twice a day 6 days a week but with kids the ages of mine some days that is just not possible so I'm doing my best to make sure I do it EVERY day at least once and every other day twice... this has been easier to manage with my lifestyle.

I'm still planning on doing the figure competition on May 2nd that I set out to do but if I don't feel ready by then I may just wait and do a later one. Being in a very small bikini on a big stage in front of people when my confidence is not very high to begin with may be a stretch but I'm working hard in hopes that I can accomplish this goal and get past my fear.

Christina's work out on Thursday KICKED MY BUTT literally! I LOVED IT and I can't wait for more!

Jason

Week 3: This week was a bit more intense than the previous 2, but that is expected. My results on the scale were better than last time. Loss of 6 pounds is more than I expected.

Part of the reason why I wanted to do this was to be physically active. My wife and 3.5 year old daughter are supportive and engaging in more activity. It helps the weather is nicer. My daughter will stretch out with me, do lunges and only a few burpies. My results have been an encouragement to my entire family, which is what I like to see.
